Traveling with toddlers can be torture. New sights and sounds can be overwhelming to a young child and vacation excitement can quickly turn into temper tantrums if you're not prepared. Here are 10 parent-practiced tips to help make traveling with toddlers fun.1. Choose a family-friendly destination. Skip the crowded tourist destinations and opt instead for a locale that is accustomed to having kids around.2. Safety first! Always make sure your child's car seat is properly secured. Also, use a removable window shade to help block the sun.3. Pack entertainment. "Best bets for entertaining your child in the car and hotel room include favorite books, games and toys," says Nancy Wolpert of Nickelodeon Home Entertainment. For all-inclusive entertainment, she recommends two new DVDs that feature a collection of kids' favorite TV shows. "The Nick Picks and Nick Jr. Favorites DVDs will keep them entertained for hours," Wolpert promises.4. Plan rest stops. If you're driving, break up the monotony by stopping every couple of hours (or more frequently if necessary). Kids need to stretch out after being cooped up in a car for a while. Consider bringing along a ball to kick or throw around during these breaks.5. Be flexible. Set realistic expectations and let your child soak up the experience at his or her own pace. You might want to limit your activities to one a day. Otherwise, you could wind up with an over-stimulated toddler. 6. Bring water and plenty of snacks. Fruit, granola bars, mini juice cartons and small boxes of cereal make for great, healthy snacks. 7. Bring a beloved item. A blankie or cuddly toy will help your toddler feel safe and secure. Be sure to have a replacement on hand, too. It will save you some heartache should the original get lost. 8. Start and end your day early. Kids are at their best in the morning, so plan accordingly. 9. Stick to your routine. Eating, napping and playing at the same time each day may be all your child needs to feel comfortable in a new environment.10. Take lots of pictures. They're only young once, so enjoy every moment! - NU

Why is the Algarve such a popular destination? Yes, its because you can get cheap flights from most UK airports and Yes its because the weather is good pretty much all year round. Oh, and Yes, its because it has a huge number of golf courses. But the next time you go to the Algarve, have a day away from the beach and take in some of the Algarves more traditional attractions.LagosPortugal has an impressive history, and this is reflected in the surviving buildings in the marina town of Lagos. Take a break from the sun by visiting the cool, historic churches of Santa Maria of Misericrida, Santo Antnio and So Sebastio and then relax at the marina a great day out.LoulMany of Louls most impressive buildings were destroyed in the Algarves great earthquake of 1755, but sections of the castle, dating back to the 12th century, remain. Loul is inland from the Algarve coast, so its a great opportunity to take a short drive inland particularly on Market Day, when the town is busy and full of life.FaroMost tourists fly into Faro and drive straight out to their holiday destination. Few bother to come back during their stay and take a look at the historic buildings and fascinating museums in the town. As the Algarves capital, theres a lot to see within its medieval walls, including the Roman-Gothic cathedral and the Infante Dom Henrique Museum. Get to Faro before your flight home to catch it at its best.SagresSagres is the most south-westerly point of Europe and is commonly known as the end of the world by locals. Its best to visit Sagres when the weather is good, but walking out to the rocks jutting into the Atlantic on a rainy, blustery day really makes you feel at one with the elements, and its worth the drive along the Algarve coast to get there.SilvesSet slightly inland from the popular coastal destinations, Silves is a beautiful historic town, with Phoenician, Roman and Moorish influences making it a great day out. It boasts what is probably the most intact castle in the area, and its cathedral was built on the site of a Moorish Mosque. Narrow streets and hidden cafes make Silves a real must visit destination.
What is the Girl Friend Experience? The Girl Friend Experience, or GFE, is what is commonly referred to by Pattaya visitors as finding a bar girl in Pattaya and your experience is similar to that of a girlfriend. There are some guys who go to Pattaya and all they want to do is conquer as many girls as possible. Then, there are others, who want to find that one, special lady and spend all of their time with her. They want a part-time girlfriend that will treat them special. Some guys make the mistake of searching for that special lady going only on looks. They want to be able to walk down the street with that girl on their arm and watching the expressions of other guys as they walk by.They are looking for a "10" and really dont care what the cost is. They just want the eye candy on their arm and will pay for the experience.Others prefer to look for a girl based on attitude and not on looks. Of course, they want someone who looks nice, but attitude is more important than outward appearance. From previous experience, I would recommend looking in the beer bars as opposed to searching in the go-go bars. The girls in the beer bars may not be rated a "10' in looks, but many will be a "10" in attitude. You will find that many of the girls are looking for a boyfriend and eventually a husband and have to do what they do to survive. They may or may not have a child back home. They also may or may not already have a boyfriend. This you will have to determine for yourself.Just be careful that you are not sponsoring someone that is just after your hard earned money. They may be duping you and giving the money to their Thai boyfriend. You will have to decide based on the individual girl.Your best bet to finding the girl friend experience is to just go out, chat up some of the girls, and find on that clicks with you. Let her approach you and see what happens. Treat her well, show respect, and she most likely will make your vacation all the better. No one will be able to advise you on any particular girl. No one will know here like you do. You will have to use your own judgment and think with your big head and decide for yourself. You can explain your situation at any of the Pattaya forums, and you will get all kinds of advice, but only you will be able to make the decision.Be smart. Go slow. Think before you do. Have fun and look for girls with positive attitudes over girls that prefer to watch themselves in a mirror while dancing.Sometimes it is planned. Sometimes it just happens. If you do fall in love, step back and take a hard look at the situation before you send any money and agree to sponsor the girl. Be careful; use your head while you are looking, and good luck in finding that "girl friend" experience.
